Evidence & Description Reading and Writing EMSA Analysis from 2014-2016. I compiled English EMSA data from 2014-2016 compare student EMSA scores and identify trends overtime. This was presented at the school's EMSA Committee Meeting and distributed to the English Department.
1. Compared student reading and writing EMSA scores with Cycle 3 schools across the emirate. Our school in English significantly achieved higher scores in reading and writing.
2. Compared student reading and writing EMSA scores across grade levels and lead conversations about the data
Student scores progressively improved in Grade 10 and 11, especially Grade 11 Writing. In 2014-2016, the key English reform initiatives were co-constructing the English curriculum, creating and using contextual, differentiated resources and moderating for more aligned assessment. These initiatives in 2014, 2015 and 2016 may have contributed to increased student EMSA in our school. However, the EMSA data shows there is a slight decline in student EMSA scores in Grade 12 in 2016. During this year, only for Grade 12 students, EMSA was not included as part of student assessment. This could explain a slight drop in Grade 12 scores.
*NB: Because Arabic is written and read from right to left, the data by year in the graphs should be read right to left.
Rationale It shows work from research and data analysis. It looks at data over time and how I can present data across different cultural and rhetorical contexts. Research provides a great place to start asking questions, identify needs and collaboratively make plans for on-going improvement.
