Evidence & Description Cooperative Learning. Autobiography and Biography Exploration Plan and Cooperative Mural

Rationale I believe that students need to develop academic and social skills. With proper planning and guidance, students can learn from each other and assist each other in overcoming learning challenges. I also think that social contexts often provide more meaningful learning environments because in life we frequently work with others. Communication is an essential part of daily life. Furthermore, by understanding other people, students can compare and contrast themselves to gain a greater understanding of themselves.

Autobiography and Biography Exploration Plan

Students learned about perimeter by measuring pictures and paintings and then creating frames for them. They estimated, measured and then calculated the total perimeter. After, they compared the size of their frames with others in the classroom.

Autobiography & Biography with portraits
Each student made an autobiography and a biography of their learning partner. They also created self-portraits and a portrait of their learning partner. These were assessed using a rubric and self-evaluated.

cooperative Mural

This lesson was used when teaching Conflict Resolution skills. The cooperative mural is an opportunity for students to cooperate, communicate, and build community. During this lesson we also chose words that best represented the meaning of the picture and studied each word's meaning and origin.
