Multiple Intelligence Unit: Applying Theory
Students developed a clear understanding of Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences and analyzed themselves and literary works. They applied their knowledge, skills and values and improved their communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creative skills. Below are a few of the activities that were used to foster students' growth.
- Students read novels and analyzed the main characters' intelligences in terms of strengths and weaknesses. Then, students made essays about their strongest intelligences and provided support for their choices.
- Students performed musical acts to show their understanding of the theory.
- Students wrote stories with the conflicts being solved using each intelligence. After, students designed book covers that involved spatial intelligence by understanding balance in art.
Multiple Intelligence Stories
Students used the writing process and developed stories where the main characters used their multiple intelligences to solve problems. The stories were unique with various settings and characters. Students were also taught skills to enrich their stories like 3rd person omniscient, dialogue, and creating imagery. |
