defining happiness: Critical Pedagogy
- Students researched and explored the concept of happiness throughout history.
- Students began prewriting to determine what they thought were the three causes of happiness. Students developed clear theses, reasons, and support.
- Students wrote the first draft of the essay and then, closely revised and proofread. After, they published their work.
Critical Pedagogy: Defining Happiness
Students studied the topic of happiness by exploring how it has been portrayed throughout history. Students determined what three things cause happiness and provided support for their choices. When developing the essays, students used the writing process and were taught the persuasive essay format. |

TOEFL: Essay writing
I taught TOEFL writing to grades 6 to 8. Students used critical thinking skills and learned various essay styles. The students made outstanding progress and were able to create unity and coherence in their work. Many of the essays involved questioning the norms and redefining their thoughts and ideas. |
